The shuffling of the Arizona State football staff continues.
ASU offensive analyst and Hall of Fame offensive lineman Kevin Mawae has reportedly been hired by the Indianapolis Colts as an assistant offensive line coach, per The Athletic’s Stephen Holder.
Mawae joined the Sun Devils program on March 12, 2018. He also served as the team’s interim tight ends coach in 2019 during ASU’s Sun Bowl preparations.
It was a reunion of sorts for Mawae and head coach Herm Edwards. From 2001-05, Mawae played under Edwards during his time with the New York Jets.
Mawae was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
Mawae heads to a Colts team that ranked No. 11 in the NFL in rush yards per game (124.8). They also graded with the seventh best offensive line by Pro Football Focus.
The former All-Pro lineman also joins forces with Klayton Adams, who ASU tabbed as the team’s next offensive line coach on Jan. 18 before he flipped his decision on Jan. 26 to remain with the Colts.
Instead, the Sun Devils hired Mike Cavanaugh to the position.
