Report: D-backs’ top prospect Corbin Carroll to have season-ending surgery

Arizona Diamondbacks top prospect Corbin Carroll will reportedly have season-ending shoulder surgery, according to MLB Pipeline’s William Boor.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Carroll was heading to the seven-day injured list.
The Hillsboro Hops announced that Carroll came to Arizona to be evaluated by the Diamondbacks’ medical staff after getting placed on the injured list.
Carroll started off the 2021 season in High-A playing centerfield for Hillsboro.
In seven games of action, Carroll was hitting .435 along with two home runs and five RBI for the Hops.

Heading into the season, the 20-year-old outfielder was ranked the 38th overall best minor league prospect, according to the MLB.com.
Carroll was drafted 16th overall in the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft by the Diamondbacks out of Lakeside School in Seattle.
Since getting drafted by Arizona, Carroll has spent time in short-season A, High-A and has played in the Arizona Fall League.
Throughout 49 career games in the minors, Carroll has batted .316 with four home runs and 25 RBI.
