The Arizona State Sun Devils won’t be at full strength for Saturday night’s contest at Oregon State, according to multiple reports.
ASU will be without linebacker Darien Butler due to an undisclosed injury, per SunDevilSource.
The absence of Butler is a huge blow, as the senior LB has been one of, if not, the best defensive player on the Sun Devils’ defense this season.
Arizona State will also be missing safety Evan Fields, defensive back Willie Harts, defensive lineman Shannon Forman, right guard Henry Hattis, and wide receivers Johnny Wilson and Andre Johnson.
In addition to the aforementioned inactives are all five of the players involved in Thursday’s two-car accident — tight ends Curtis Hodges and Jalin Conyer, defensive back T Lee, and defensive ends Joe Moore and Stanley Lambert — who did not make the trip to Corvallis.
With the likes of Butler out on defense and Hodges (ASU’s second-leading receiver on the year) out on offense, the Sun Devils will have to overcome even more adversity to inch closer to a higher-caliber bowl.
An Arizona State win paired with a Utah loss on the night would have kept ASU’s Pac-12 South title hopes alive going into the final week of the regular season against Arizona.
But unfortunately for Sun Devil fans, the Utes led the Oregon Ducks 35-7 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
