Arizona Coyotes prospect Dylan Guenther has been named to Team Canada’s roster for the 2021-22 IIHF World Junior Championships that start on Dec. 26.
The Coyotes selected the forward from Edmonton with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 18-year-old currently plays his club hockey for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Despite being young, Guenther has plenty of national experience with Team Canada. The forward took home Gold with Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF U-18 World Championships and played a key role for his team. In seven games, Guenther tallied three goals and four assists.
Guenther got some run with the Coyotes during the NHL preseason, where he scored a goal in a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Sept. 27.
Playing with a talented Team Canada, Guenther will have a chance to show the Coyotes how much he’s matured in his development.
Team Canada opens its World Junior Championships against the Czech Republic on Dec. 26.
