The Arizona Coyotes will be hosting a celebration of life for former vice president of hockey development Matt Shott at Gila River Arena on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m.
The team announced the event on Tuesday after Shott died on Dec. 19 following a battle with cancer.
“Matt was an amazing person who was loved, admired and respected by everyone in the Valley’s hockey community,” Coyotes president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez said in a press release.
“He was kind, generous and selfless and had a positive impact on so many people’s lives. We look forward to celebrating Matt’s incredible life with his family, friends and loved ones and promise to keep his memory alive.”
Arizona will honor Shott with several tribute videos and speeches.
Speakers will include Gutierrez, Coyotes legend and current hockey development officer Shane Doan and senior director of hockey development business strategy Lyndsey Fry.
Guests attending the event can park in Lot G and enter the arena through Gate 4 as early as 2:30 p.m.
Seating will be available throughout the lower bowl of Gila River Arena and fans are encouraged to wear Coyotes jerseys.
Those interested in giving money to the Matt Shott Memorial Hockey Development Fund can do so online.
Donations will go toward the Coyotes’ youth hockey programs in Arizona.
