The Arizona Coyotes placed goaltender Carter Hutton on waivers Sunday afternoon, according to PHNX Sports Craig Morgan.
Hutton, 36, hasn’t played for the Coyotes since October after suffering a lower-body injury. He’s appeared in three games for Arizona this season, where he has an 0-2 record.
The veteran goalie signed a one-year deal with the Coyotes in the offseason and entered the season as the starter in-between the pipes. In his three games prior to injury, Hutton allowed 15 goals on 58 shots faced.
Should no other team in the NHL claim the services of Hutton, he will head to the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL.
In Tucson, Hutton would join goalie Ivan Prosvetov, the Coyotes top goaltending prospect.
At the NHL level, Karel Vejmelka and Scott Wedgewood will continue to man the net for the Coyotes.
Due to Hutton’s injury, the rookie Vejmelka has received the bulk of the play in net, making 29 starts for the Coyotes.
