Reports: Coyotes D Jakob Chychrun gets good news on ankle injury

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun received a favorable second opinion on an ankle injury suffered Saturday.
TSN’s Darren Dreger and PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan reported on Wednesday that the injury isn’t as bad as it was first feared.
The team initially expected Chychrun to be out for 2-4 weeks, but his absence could be closer to the short end of that spectrum. Chychrun could potentially hit the ice to test his injury this week, the reporters added.
The news comes as Chychrun remains heavily named in trade rumors before the NHL trade deadline on Monday. Dreger and TSN’s Pierre LeBrun have reported the Boston Bruins and Los Angeles Kings remain interested in completing a deal with the Coyotes.
After injuring his ankle against the Bruins on Saturday, Chychrun returned for one shift but was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the loss.
The 23-year-old Chychrun has played well in recent games for the Coyotes with eight points, including five goals in the last five games. He has seven goals and 14 assists for the season.
