The Arizona Coyotes have traded goalie Scott Wedgewood to the Dallas Stars in exchange for a conditional fourth-round draft pick, the team announced on Sunday night.
“On behalf of the entire organization, we would like to thank Scott for everything he did for the Coyotes on and off the ice,” Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said in a statement. “He is the consummate professional and a class act and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Wedgewood, 29, has made 23 starts for the Coyotes this season and leads the team in save percentage (.911) and goals against average (3.06). Karel Vejmelka’s 33 starts combine with Wedgewood’s 23 to make up for the majority of Arizona’s goalie rotation this year.
Both goalies are in the last year of their respective contracts.
Wedgewood is a journeyman that has bounced around several hockey clubs at both the NHL and AHL levels before seeing the most success of his NHL career with the Coyotes this season. He had previously played for Arizona in the 2017-18 season as well.
