The weekend of Feb. 10-12 in 2023 will be a doozy in Maricopa County.
The PGA Tour announced Monday that the WM Phoenix Open is set for Feb. 6-12 at TPC Scottsdale, while Super Bowl LVII is already scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 12, in Glendale.
This same occurrence happened in 2015 when Super Bowl XLIX was hosted at what then was called University of Phoenix Stadium, with the Phoenix Open concluding the same day.
The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots, 28-24, behind Malcolm Butler’s end zone interception that year just after Kevin Stadler won the Valley’s premier PGA event.
The Buffalo Bills (+650), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+750), Kansas City Chiefs (+950), Los Angeles Rams (+1100) and Green Bay Packers (+1200) have the top odds to reach this coming season’s Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium, according to FanDuel.
With over 700,000 fans watching intently, Scottie Scheffler won last year’s WM Phoenix Open in thrilling fashion as he defeated Patrick Cantlay in a sudden-death, three-hole playoff.
Scheffler came away with $1.5 million and 500 FedEx Cup points following the conclusion of the tournament.
During last year’s festivities, the Phoenix Open raised over $3.8 million for charities.
