GLENDALE — Not too long ago, there were concerns about quarterback Kyler Murray’s weekly film study.

The publicization of a clause — that has since been removed — in his new contract extension will have that effect.

But after Tuesday’s revelations, maybe the study clause needed to be thrown into the contract of Kyler Murray impersonator Manny Jones.

For the first time since Jones, a defensive lineman, graced the rookie talent show stage impersonating Murray, the signal caller gave his review of the performance.

He didn’t hold back, either.

“I thought he could have done better,” Murray said. “He did a good job. I think the guys think he looks like me or whatever. He did alright.

“It was a little dry,” the QB added. “He hasn’t spent a lot of time around me so he kind of just went off of what he saw. I think he should have studied a little bit more.”

You cannot make this stuff up.

Murray not playing vs. Ravens

Even before Murray spoke after Tuesday’s practice, it was expected that he would not suit up for the team’s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

It didn’t take much for the signal caller to confirm the plan.

“I’m not playing,” Murray said.

Instead, head coach Kliff Kingsbury is planning on running out a similar starting lineup like the one he rolled out against the Bengals.

The biggest change in the depth chart released Tuesday centered around a pair of offensive linemen in Josh Miles and Josh Jones.

After Miles worked as the team’s starting left tackle on Friday, he’ll flip flop with Jones, who was Arizona’s starting right tackle against Cincinnati.

CBs room brimming with trust

The Cardinals’ cornerbacks room remains under the microscope this offseason.

That’ll happen when depth remains an issue and a projected starter, Marco Wilson, is getting called out by his head coach to step up.

But while some are calling for an outside signing or trade to bolster the room, those already on the roster believe the group has what this team needs.

“I don’t listen to that stuff, to be honest,” cornerback Antonio Hamilton said of the outside noise. “We’ve got ultimate trust and faith in our group of guys that we got. We’ve been making plays, no busted coverages and things like that we’ve been consistent.

“We’re just growing and gelling with each other, so I don’t know if guys want a big-name guy to hang a hat on … but, nah, we believe in the guys we got here. Whatever the core guys are, that’s who we’re rolling with.”

Kingsbury hopeful Trey McBride can debut vs. Ravens

Rookie tight end Trey McBride had to watch as his teammates took the field against the Bengals last Friday.

It was not what the rookie or the team envisioned, with Kingsbury originally planning to play McBride a ton in the matchup before a plethora of rest days due to a sore back threw a wrench in things.

But after a week of minimal action, McBride has gotten back into the flow of training camp with his sights set on playing at State Farm Stadium on Sunday night.

“That’s what we’re hoping,” Kingsbury said Tuesday. “He’s progressed and practiced well this week, so I’m hoping he’ll get out there and get some reps.”

The same can’t be said for linebacker Markus Golden, however. He remains sidelined with a toe issue that has kept him out for the majority of camp.

Despite his absence, Kingsbury thinks Arizona’s 2021 sack leader will be up to speed ahead of the regular season.

“I think he’ll be on schedule to get back in time, to get enough work by Week 1 that he feels ready to roll,” the head coach said.
