The Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday called up veteran infielder Wilmer Difo from Triple-A Reno and designated right-handed reliever Noe Ramirez for assignment.
The team also activated left-handed reliever Kyle Nelson (back spasms) and right-hander Keynan Middleton (strained right ankle) from the 15-day injured list.
Difo, 30, has not played for the D-backs this season and has played 72 games with the Reno Aces.
He’s batting .269 with 43 RBIs, 15 doubles and seven home runs with 41 strikeouts and 20 walks in that span.
Difo spent last year with the Pittsburgh Pirates and from 2015-20 was with the Washington Nationals. He holds a career .251/.313/.355 slash line in 489 major league games.
Ramirez appeared in 55 games out of the bullpen for Arizona this season, posting a 5.22 ERA and 1.42 WHIP.
The 32-year-old in the past seven appearances has allowed seven earned runs over 5.0 full innings with six walks and two strikeouts.
Nelson has played 38 games and holds a 1.57 ERA over 34.1 innings.
Middleton has a 1.64 ERA over 11.0 innings and 12 appearances with the Diamondbacks this season.
