Elijah Williams, the son of Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams, is one of 62 athletes participating in a USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team minicamp in October.

The camp takes place from Oct. 7-10 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Each participant is a high school athlete, with representatives from the 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 graduating classes.

There are 11 other freshmen participating with Williams, who is in the 2026 class. Moreover, there are seven representatives who attend high school in Arizona.

Class of 2023

  • Mookie Cook – AZ Compass Prep

Class of 2024

  • Vyctorius Miller – AZ Compass Prep

Class of 2025

  • Jeremiah Green – AZ Compass Prep
  • Jayden Quaintance – Hillcrest Prep
  • Koa Peat – Perry High School

Class of 2026

  • Cam Holmes – Millenium High School
  • Elijah Williams – Scottsdale Christian Academy

The 6-foot-5 Williams already has Division I offers from several schools, including Arizona State, Notre Dame and Washington.

“Elijah is about to make some waves in the Arizona high school basketball scene,” Scottsdale Christian head coach John Anderson told AZCentral.com’s Richard Obert in June. “Elijah can score from all three levels … His strength is rarely matched when he strikes the basket.

“Along with his tremendous skills and athletic ability, Elijah brings incredible maturity and wisdom that has been passed down by his father, Monty Williams.”

The Team USA camp will also be for education, as it offers several programs for its participants and their families.

Among them are courses on NCAA eligibility and mental health issues.
