Chris Paul switches to speedwalking in new State Farm commercial

Oct 19, 2022, 3:15 PM

Chris Paul is open to change.

Whether that’s his current insurance plan or his job description, he’s game for it. The Phoenix Suns point guard says so in a newly released State Farm Insurance commercial played repeatedly during TNT’s opening night of NBA action on Tuesday.

“What if I want to change my plan?” Paul asks Jake from State Farm.

“State Farm’s here to help,” Jake replies.

“What if I want to change sports?” Paul counters.

It’s here where Paul is shown with a competitive frown in a professional speedwalking event as an opponent tries to track him down. Paul takes the victory in the commercial.

If only trying new things were so easy.

In real life, of course, he will be open to change as Phoenix evolves its roster with a goal on making a title run in 2022-23.

Suns teammates who tuned into the first NBA games of the year on Tuesday said before their own opener a day later that Paul’s speedwalking skills were a topic during practice.

The consummate veteran, Paul was giving his younger teammates tips about how to increase hip speed while on the move.

“That’s a good commercial though,” Devin Booker said. “I like his form. He was teaching us today.”

The Suns host the Mavericks with a 7 p.m. tipoff on opening night. Tune to Arizona Sports 98.7, the Arizona Sports app or ArizonaSports.com
