Trenton Bourguet will start at quarterback for the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday at the Colorado Buffaloes, per Jeff Munn on the Sun Devil Tailgate Show.
Bourguet took over for injured Emory Jones against Washington three weeks ago and led a 45-38 upset win over then-No. 21 Huskies, going 15-of-21 for 182 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
After a bye week, Jones returned to the starting role and played in last week’s 15-14 loss to Stanford.
Interim head coach Shaun Aguano opened the starting quarterback job up for a competition this week.
He’s looking for a spark against a 1-6 Colorado squad that likewise is working under an interim coach Mike Sanford.
“I wanted to see how everything played out and evaluate all the coaching staff and make sure our kids were put in a position to be successful and win game. … It’s been an evolving process, an evaluation process,” Aguano told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta on Friday.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Arizona Sports 98.7, the Arizona Sports app and ArizonaSports.com.
