Sun Devils show off Pat Tillman uniform combo, field design vs. No. 10 UCLA

The Arizona State football team returns to Sun Devil Stadium this Saturday for the first time in nearly a month.

After upsetting then-No. 21 Washington on Oct. 8, ASU hosts No. 10 UCLA at Frank Kush Field this weekend.

It will be a maroon monsoon when the Bruins (7-1, 4-1 Pac-12, No. 12 CFP) come into Tempe, as the Sun Devils (3-5, 2-3) released their helmet and uniform combination on Thursday.

Saturday night’s Pac-12 contest will also mark Arizona State’s salute to service, with a “PT*42” emblem on each side of the helmet.

The tribute to the late Pat Tillman — a former Arizona State Sun Devil, Arizona Cardinal and Army Ranger who was killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan in 2004 — is placed within a maroon and gold camouflage design that also features in a thin strip along the center of the hat.

Last but not least, the Week 10 matchup is also family weekend at Arizona State.

And with interim head coach Shaun Aguano growing up in Hawaii, he has instilled ASU “Ohana” — which means family — around his football program.

All three themes of maroon monsoon, salute to service and Sun Devil Ohana will have a section of the field’s sideline or endzone painted in commemoration.
