Another Arizona Cardinal hit the shelf for the remainder of the 2022 season, as long snapper Aaron Brewer landed on injured reserve (pectoral) on Monday, the team announced.
The Cardinals were also awarded their waiver claim on cornerback Josh Jackson — who spent much of the offseason with Arizona — from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brewer, 32, is an upcoming free agent after spending the last seven seasons on the Cardinals.
He has not missed a game this year, although he was sidelined for three contests with a forearm issue in 2021.
The Cardinals will need to add a long snapper ahead of Sunday’s contest against the Atlanta Falcons or go to emergency options on the roster.
Jackson signed with Arizona as a free agent on June 16 after playing two games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021. The 2018 second-round pick out of Iowa played in all three of the Cardinals’ preseason games, producing eight tackles and a pass defense.
He was cut on Aug. 29 and signed with the Steelers’ practice squad on Sept. 5.
Jackson has played in four games this season with one start.
The Cardinals placed cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. on injured reserve Saturday with a back injury, ending his campaign.
Marco Wilson, who had a pair of interceptions on Sunday, left the game with a stinger and is considered day-to-day.
Jackson adds depth familiar with the defense to the mix with two contests left on the slate.
More roster moves appear imminent, as safety Budda Baker is out for the season with a shoulder injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday.
Cardinals-Falcons will air Sunday at 11 a.m. on Arizona Sports 98.7, the Arizona Sports app and ArizonaSports.com.
