Arizona Cardinals are sticking with John Skelton

The Arizona Cardinals will not be making a change at quarterback.

John Skelton, who began the season as the starter only to lose the job to injury, has struggled since replacing Kevin Kolb late against Buffalo.

Skelton has completed 57 of 88 passes for 552 yards over the last two games, with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Cardinals have not won — they’ve barely been competitive — and there are some people who think rookie Ryan Lindley should take over.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt is not one of them.

“I don’t know where the Lindley (talk’s) coming from,” he said. “We’re going to continue to stay the course. With the way our quarterback situation’s been going, probably Lindley will get a chance to play because it seems like we’ve had some issues there. But right now, we’re staying with John.”

Lindley completed 52.2 percent of his passes for 538 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions in the preseason. He had a QB rating of 60.0, which was higher than the ratings of both Kevin Kolb and John Skelton.

However, while Whisenhunt said he’s as disappointed as anyone with how the team has played of late, he does not seem to think a switch to the sixth-round pick out of San Diego State is the answer.

“I’m sure there’s a lot of fans saying a lot of things; we’re all frustrated with where we are,” Whisenhunt said at his press conference Tuesday. “We feel like we’re better than what our record indicates right now.”
