Cut day arrived on Tuesday for the Arizona Cardinals and the deadline for NFL teams to trim down their rosters to 53 players after training camp and the preseason concluded.
Tuesday began with the biggest news of the day in quarterback Desmond Ridder getting released, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Ridder was in contention with Clayton Tune for the QB2 job and figured to be the favorite after Arizona acquired him from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for Rondale Moore. Ridder, however, underperformed in practice and preseason enough to lose not only that job but his roster spot.
Arizona’s efforts began on Monday afternoon when it cut six players, and later on in the evening, traded pass rusher and 2022 third-round pick Cameron Thomas to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a seventh-round pick.
Here’s who is left on the Cardinals’ initial 53-man roster.
