On the latest edition of the State of the Sun Devils podcast, Jeremy Schnell, Jesse Morrison and Damon Allred react to No. 21 Arizona State football’s huge win over No. 14 BYU.
With the win, ASU (9-2, 6-2 Big 12) needs to beat Arizona in the Territorial Cup and the Sun Devils will most likely head to Arlington, Texas to play in the Big 12 title game on Dec. 7.
The only way an ASU win over the Wildcats will not get the Sun Devils into the championship game is if BYU loses to Houston, Texas Tech defeats West Virginia, Baylor takes down Kansas and Cincinnati beats TCU. Then, the Big 12 title game would be Colorado against Iowa State.
Cam Skattebo, as he has done many times this season, propelled Arizona State to the win. The ASU running back had 28 carries for 147 yards and three touchdowns.
Wide receiver Jordyn Tyson also came up big yet again with nine catches for 125 yards and Xavier Guillory had a 61-yard touchdown reception.
Defensively, the Sun Devils picked off BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff twice. Javan Robinson had a huge interception late in the fourth quarter as the Cougars were driving deep into Sun Devil territory.
ASU fans ended up storming the field twice as the officials put one second on the clock after what appeared to be the final play of the game.
