Two Phoenix Mercury legends will soon be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2027.

Diana Taurasi and Sandy Brondello will be two of the six inductees on June 26, 2027.

Taurasi retired as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer (10,646 points), and Sandy Brondello won two WNBA championships and appeared in four finals.

Taurasi spent her entire 20-year career with the Mercury and finished her playing days as the WNBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made. The Mercury legend is the only player in league history to eclipse 10,000 career points, and she’s third all-time in assists.

Before Taurasi got to the WNBA, she was a three-time national champion at UConn and two-time Naismith National Player of the Year. On the professional stage, Taurasi was an 11-time All-Star, three-time champion, two-time Finals MVP and one-time league MVP. The soon-to-be Hall of Famer also won three FIBA World Cup Gold Medals.

Brondello was the Mercury head coach from 2014-21, where she coached the most recent Mercury championship team and won WNBA Coach of the Year in 2014.

She won a second championship as head coach of the New York Liberty in 2024 and was the inaugural head coach of the Toronto Tempo in 2025.

As a player, Brondello was an All-Star in 1999, a WNBL MVP in 1995 and a three-time Olympic medalist (1996, 2000, 2004).

The other four inductees in the Class of 2027 are coach Mike Thibault, referee Dee Kantner, WBL star Molly Bolin Kazmer and director Judith Holland.

The induction ceremony will be held at the Tennessee Theater in Knoxville, Tennessee.
