Arizona Sundogs reach ticket goal, executives can finally leave underground container
Brad Fain and Chris Presson can sleep in their own beds tonight.
It’s gotta be better than a metal container buried underground.
A couple weeks ago, the Haboob Blog brought you the story of the Arizona Sundogs executives who, in an effort to sell 300 season tickets, were going to be buried in a 22-foot metal container.
Fain, the majority owner, and Pressey, the team’s general manager, entered the ground on Wednesday, June 18. Ten days later, on June 27, they reached their goal.
“When we originally were brainstorming and came up with this idea we never anticipated how mentally challenging this would be”, said Presson, the team’s general manager.
The campaign was the latest somewhat odd promotion meant to entice fans into purchasing tickets to see the Central Hockey League team. The previous season, members of the organization stationed themselves 33 feet in the air on a scissor lift and were not to come down until 300 tickets were sold.
“We continuously look for ways to market the great sport of hockey in Northern Arizona and look forward to providing quality, family fun and entertainment,” Pressey continued. “It’s important for us and our community to secure a place for hockey in this town.”
