Coyotes’ Antti Raanta to sport custom Kachina pads with alternate jersey

Saturdays just got a little bit more exciting for Arizona goalie Antti Raanta, who recently added an extra piece of flair to the Coyotes alternate Kachina jerseys.
For each home game on Saturdays this season, Raanta will use custom Kachina-themed pads and gloves as he defends the goal for Arizona.
The Coyotes will be wearing their black throwback Kachina jersey during every Saturday home game this season. It was introduced during the offseason as an alternate to their standard home red and away white uniforms.
These sleek black pads are complimented by a strong maroon design along the bottom. Front and center on the pads is the throwback Kachina logo. Raanta’s pads not only complement the fan-favorite uniform, but celebrate the rich history of the team by bringing back the 90’s themed Kachina style.
The throwback sweaters combine a black base with colorful red and green highlights scattered throughout the collar, shoulders, sleeves and trim. Arizona’s alternate uniforms will be worn 14 times over the course of the season including “Black Friday” on Nov. 23, when the Colorado Avalanche visit Glendale.
By combining the pads and uniform, Raanta is embracing the organization and his commitment to the Coyotes franchise. The 29-year-old signed a three-year extension to stay with Arizona in April despite playing in just 47 games in the 2017-18 season.
Heading into his sixth season in the NHL, Raanta is solidified as a crucial member of the Coyotes’ game plan for the coming year. Raanta finished last year with a save percentage of .930 while posting three shutouts and a record of 21-17-6.
The Coyotes will sport the Kachina uniforms in their home opener against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 6 on ESPN 620 AM.
