Over the years, plenty of football leagues have been created to try to “compete” with the NFL. Almost all of them have flopped, but the newly-founded Alliance of American Football (AAF) has high hopes to succeed in its first season with high-profile players and coaches spread across the league.
Arizona’s team, the Hotshots, is led by head coach Rick Neuheisel and offensive coordinator Hugh Freeze. Some notable players on the team include quarterback Mike Bercovici, running back Demario Richard and others.
Tuesday, the AAF announced the full schedule for its inaugural season.

The Hotshots’ inaugural season kicks off on Feb. 10 when the team hosts the Salt Lake Stallions at Sun Devil Stadium. It will be a homecoming of sorts for former ASU head coach Dennis Erickson, who is now the Stallions’ head coach.
Other home games are against the Atlanta Legends, San Antonio Commanders, San Diego Fleet and Birmingham Iron.
Some notable players and coaches from the aforementioned teams include head coach Mike Riley (San Antonio), quarterback Trevor Knight (San Antonio), running back Bishop Sankey (San Diego), quarterback Stephen Garcia (Birmingham) and running back Trent Richardson (Birmingham).
The Hotshots play their first road game of the season in Week 2 against the Memphis Express. Notable Express personnel include head coach Mike Singletary, quarterbacks Austin Allen and Zach Mettenberger, and running back Zac Stacy.
Later in the season, Arizona faces both Salt Lake and San Antonio on the road, as well as the Orlando Apollos. Legendary head coach Steve Spurrier is at the helm in Orlando, and a couple notable players on the roster include quarterbacks B.J. Daniels and Stephen Morris.
To conclude the regular season, the Hotshots face the Fleet on the road. The AAF’s playoff is a four-team bracket, and its championship is scheduled for April 26-28.
