Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has been rumored and linked to a couple of the NFL’s eight head coaching vacancies.
Ian Rapoport from the NFL Network has tweeted that Arians could meet soon with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers regarding their open position.
Later on Saturday, the Buccaneers official Twitter account tweeted that Arians had just finished an interview with team officials.
Although Arians has publicly stated that the only job he would come back for was the Cleveland Browns head coach position, on New Year’s Eve Rapoport reported that Arians would be willing to listen to what the Buccaneers had to offer.
He told Rapoport then, that his relationship with general manager Jason Licht was what could lure him to the job.
The Buccaneers were 5-11 last season under Dirk Koetter but still managed one of the top offenses in the league ranking third in total yards and first in passing yards.
Arians was known as an offensive minded head coach during his time with the Cardinals and in 2017 published a book titled “The Quarterback Whisperer: How to Build an Elite NFL Quarterback.”
