Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton and forward Richaun Holmes have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Ayton suffered a left ankle sprain, while Holmes suffered a right foot sprain in Saturday’s road game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Nobody has played more for the Suns this year than Ayton.
The rookie has played in every game this season (47) and leads the team in starts (46) and total minutes played (1,448).
Ayton also leads the team in rebounds per game (10.6) and is second on the team in total blocks (46).
Holmes is fourth on the team in games played (45) while leading the team in blocks on the season (50).
He is also second on the team in total rebounds (200).
Phoenix can’t seem to escape the injury bug lately, as guard Devin Booker has played in the last three games following his three-game hiatus due to back spasms.
Booker has missed 13 games this season.
Head coach Igor Kokoskov will be without his two leading rebounders and shot blockers that have missed a combined two games on the year — this being Ayton’s first.
The Suns take on the T-wolves in Minnesota on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
