Coyotes’ Ekman-Larsson does ‘Stop Sucking’ challenge, nominates Fitz

Aug 29, 2017, 1:46 PM

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was nominated to participate in the “Stop Sucking” challenge, a social media campaign to end the use of plastic straws.

A website called Strawless Ocean is urging people to help eliminate the massive amounts plastic that eventually wind up in the ocean. The site stated that by 2050, the plastics in the oceans will outweigh the fish.

Ekman-Larsson — known by many as OEL — was nominated by fellow Swede and Ottawa Senators star defenseman Erik Karlsson to post a video about the cause.

“Thanks Erik Karlsson for challenging me to stop sucking,” Ekman-Larsson said in an Instagram video. “I accept your challenge. I would like to nominate Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals not to suck.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, Fitzgerald’s Instagram did not include a response.
