Phil Mickelson asks young fan for advice during PGA practice round

Sometimes when you are in between clubs on the golf course, it helps to ask an outside source.

ASU alumnus Phil Mickelson did exactly that.

While playing in a practice round for the Dell Technologies Championship, Mickelson was met with a choice. Does he go for the green, hitting a three wood out of the rough or does he hit an iron and play it safe?

When he asked a young fan what he should do, the kid didn’t miss a beat.

“If I could hit my three wood 260 (yards), I would probably go for it.”

Lefty agreed and proceeded to hit the three wood.

It must have been a good decision because Phil quickly responded to the fan after the shot with “you can caddy for me anytime.” Even Mickelson’s caddy (and brother), Tim Mickelson, motioned that he take the bag from him.

I understand Phil takes tons of grief for having a big ego, but he is a professional golfer and heaven help you if you lose your confidence.

But I absolutely love how he is with fans, especially young fans. No one else on tour except for Arnold has ever been as good.

WTG Phil, way to stand up, way to represent.
