The Phoenix Suns announced Tuesday that they have called up three coaches from the G League Northern Arizona Suns to join the NBA coaching staff.
The three coaches are Northern Arizona Suns coach Ty Ellis, associate head coach Bret Burchard and assistant coach Brandon Rosenthal.
NAZ Suns training camp, which begins Tuesday, will now be led by Tyler Gatlin.
A release from the NAZ Suns states that Ellis, 40, spent one year as the team’s head coach. In their inaugural season, the NAZ Suns went 22-28 for third place in the G-League’s Pacific Division.
Burchard, 31, previously spent six years with the Phoenix Suns as a video coordinator and communications coordinator. He had just been promoted this offseason from assistant coach to associate head coach.
Rosenthal, 29, worked for the Houston Rockets’ video department before joining the NAZ Suns last year. He has also served as the director of basketball operations at Santa Clara University and was a coach at St. Edward’s University.
These moves come following the Suns’ decision to let go of head coach Earl Watson and assistants Nate Bjorkgren, Mehmet Okur and Jason Fraser this weekend.
