Arizona Coyotes recall goaltender Marek Langhamer from Tucson

The Arizona Coyotes announced Thursday that they had recalled goaltender Marek Langhamer from the AHL Tucson Roadrunners.
The move comes the morning after a 3-1 loss to the Sharks on Wednesday night in which Coyotes starting netminder Antti Raanta exited the game with an upper-body injury. Neither the cause nor severity of the injury were immediately known, and a timetable for Raanta’s return was not given following the game.
Scott Wedgewood, Arizona’s backup, played the rest of the game.
Langhamer has played three games for the Roadrunners this year, who also have goaltenders Adin Hill and Hunter Miska on their roster. In those three games, the 23-year-old holds a .947 save percentage. He has appeared in just one NHL game in his career, which came last season as he stopped seven of eight shots faced in 16 minutes of ice time.

If the Coyotes lose Raanta for any extended period of time, it would be a tough pill to swallow. He was instrumental in helping stabilize the team in their three-game win streak on a Canadian road trip last week, and already missed most of the month of October with a lower-body injury.
Raanta holds a .914 save percentage in 13 games played this season.
The Coyotes’ next game is on Friday at home against the Los Angeles Kings, followed by another home contest on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights.
