Three former Suns players named as finalists for Basketball Hall of Fame

Three former Phoenix Suns players, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd and Grant Hill, headline a list of 13 finalists for the 2018 Basketball Hall of Fame class.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP, led the Suns to four-straight playoff seasons from 2005 to 2008 including a Western Conference Finals appearance in 2006. He also led the Suns to the Western Conference Finals in 2010.

Aside from being a two-time MVP, eight-time all star and holding the highest free-throw percentage in league history, Nash is third in the NBA in career assists.

Ahead of Nash on the career assist list is former Suns point guard Jason Kidd.

Kidd finished his career with 12,091 assists ahead of Nash with 10,335. Kidd began his career in Phoenix playing five seasons with the Suns. He was a 10-time all star and won an NBA championship in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks.

Grant Hill played five seasons in Phoenix making the deepest playoff run of his career with the Suns in 2010. Hill enjoyed an 18-year career in the NBA averaging 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game for four different teams.

Other finalists include Ray Allen, Maurice Cheeks, Charles “Lefty” Driessell, Hugh Evans, Rudy Tomjanovich, Chris Webber, Kim Mulkey, Katie Smith, Tina Thompson and Wayland Baptist University.

The final announcement will be made on Saturday, March 31 prior to the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio.
