Suns look to extend winning streak in Boston

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns are riding high on their current four-game winning streak as they head into Boston to take on the Celtics Wednesday night.

The Suns have won consecutive games in overtime that included thrilling last possession winning shots by Channing Frye.

Phoenix started their winning streak with an impressive 105-97 win over the Atlanta Hawks at home before heading out on a six-game road trip.

The Suns took care of the Toronto Raptors handily 110-92 before the last two nail-biting wins over the Indiana Pacers 110-108 and the New Jersey Nets 104-103, both in overtime.

Phoenix’s (31-27) toughest test on their ongoing six-game road trip will be facing the new look Celtics.

Boston shook up their team at the trade deadline shipping out the popular Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to Oklahoma City for the talented and up and coming Jeff Green.

The defending conference champion Celtics (43-15) have dominated all season and have the best record in the Eastern Conference once again.

However, Phoenix has enjoyed success against Boston lately.

They swept the season series in 2009-10 and have won 23 of the last 36 meetings overall, including six of the last eight at TD Garden.

In the first meeting this season, Phoenix dismantled Boston at home in an 88-71 victory, led by Marcin Gortat’s 19 points and 17 rebounds.

The Suns last extensive road trip back east also started with three straight wins, but ended with bad losses to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Detroit Pistons. The team will be looking to finish out this trip on a better note.

Phoenix’s road trip will continue on Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks before concluding with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
