Suns’ GM Blanks addresses breakdown against Bulls

The Phoenix Suns may have little left to fight for but with 13.1 seconds left in regulation Tuesday, they had a chance to force the NBA East-leading Chicago Bulls into overtime.

And that’s when things broke down.

Down 97-94 after Kyle Korver missed his first of two free throws, the Suns had the ball and a chance to take the final shot to force the game into an extra period.

It was reported head coach Alvin Gentry drew up a play for a Channing Frye but when a quick-footed big man Joakim Noah switched to guard Steve Nash, it threw the Suns for a loop. Nash tried his best to find an open shooter but couldn’t locate a teammate who had any sort of good look. And with no chance of making a three over the 7-foot Noah, Nash drove the lane the lane looking for a quick two. He then dished it to Marcin Gortat, who missed a short jump hook. Carter attempted a tip-in but by then it was too late and the buzzer sounded, with the Bulls walking away with the victory after the Suns’ furious comeback from down 23.

After this turn of events, many fans were questioning if the Suns lost track of how much they were down by. Suns General Manager Lance Blanks addressed those concerns on Sports 620’s KTAR’s Doug and Wolf Wednesday morning.
