As we move closer to the NBA draft, teams are starting to narrow down their draft boards and host player workouts.

While the Suns have been very secretive about their draft day strategy, Marshon Brooks told arizonasports.com’s Bryan Gibberman and NBA Draft Insider’s Kristofer Habbas that he will work out for the Suns late next week.

Brooks, a 6-foot-5 guard out of Providence College, expects to be drafted either late in the lottery or in the early 20’s.

“I do not expect to be available in the late 20’s,” Brooks said.

Brooks also mentioned that he does not expect to go too early as he only has scheduled workouts with three teams in the lottery – Utah, Milwaukee and Phoenix.

As a senior, Brooks averaged 24.6 points per game, with his season high of 43 coming in a road loss to Georgetown.

While Brooks assist totals may seem low, he has shown an ability to improve his numbers every year. During each of his four seasons at Providence, he increased his minutes, points, assists and field goal percentage.

From high school until now Brooks has always flew under the radar, but that is something that motivates him as he sees himself succeeding in the NBA and is looking forward to the opportunity.

“I’m just going to keep working hard and keep playing my game because that’s what got me here,” Brooks said. “I feel that I’m a guy who can score and distribute as well which is something I didn’t show at the college level but I’m looking forward to showing it at the next level.”
