PHOENIX SUNS

NBA Draft Profile: Chris Singleton

Jun 22, 2011, 11:05 PM | Updated: Jun 23, 2011, 5:53 pm

Chris Singleton is as ready to play in the NBA as anyone in this draft, he is a physical specimen at 6-9, 230 lbs.

When you watch Singleton play it is hard not to get frustrated, he is always the most talented player on the court, but rarely do you get to see that talent. As a junior he did correct that by playing the best defense of anyone in college basketball while adding to his offensive game.

Flashes of a jump shot and the ability to create off the dribble were shown throughout the year, but his offense is still developing.

On the other hand, his defense is certainly developed and ready for the next level. As mentioned above, Singleton is a physical specimen and with the amount of dangerous scorers in the NBA on the wing, he could be an invaluable weapon.

The strength he plays with would allow Singleton to play in the paint against stronger forwards including most power forwards. His athleticism and speed will keep Singleton in front of the elusive perimeter players.

All-in-all his defense makes Singleton a fit on any NBA team, especially a team like the Suns looking to potentially change their identity in the near future.

With Grant Hill close to retirement he can prove to be a great mentor for Singleton, teaching him the ropes on his way out the door. Jared Dudley may be more comfortable as a reserve and also may be more effective in that role, Singleton may be more needed than most think.
