Dudley wouldn’t be offended if Nash left

Jared Dudley isn’t one to shy away from sharing his opinion on any subject.

On Wednesday, while at Steve Nash’s charity soccer event in New York, he shared his thoughts on all the trade rumors surrounding the Phoenix Suns.

“I’m definitely hoping [Marcin Gortat and Steve Nash] stay here,” he told SI.com. “You can understand if Steve, at his age, really wanted to win a championship and wanted to go right now and get it next year.”

Dudley admits the Suns aren’t that team who can get Nash a ring right now.

“With the team exactly right now? Probably not,” he said. ” We didn’t make the playoffs, so for me to say yes I’d probably be lying to you. I think we could make the playoffs. Another piece could take us over the top.”

It’s one thing to hear the fans or media say the Suns aren’t contenders, but it’s another to hear someone on the roster admit it. While Dudley hedged his bet by saying another piece could take them over the top, he didn’t seem overly confident that the team would add it.

So the Suns aren’t contenders according to Dudley and he wouldn’t be offended if Nash decided to chase a title somewhere else? Yeah, he certainly isn’t afraid to offer up an opinion, no matter what the subject.
