Five rookie quarterbacks were taken in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and those fan bases exited draft night with eagerness to see them live on the field to hopefully inject new life into their franchises.

One of those five quarterbacks was Josh Rosen of the Arizona Cardinals, who was chosen with the 10th pick in the draft and was the fourth quarterback taken overall.

With anticipation for the 2018 NFL season mounting, CBSSports.com’s Jason La Canfora explored just how much playing time the selected franchise quarterback should expect to see.

La Canfora set his over/under for Rosen at five games.

He is the most pro ready of any of this bunch and has the best pocket presence. I don’t believe he is going to have any shortage of confidence or self belief once the season begins, either. Bradford’s injury woes predate his arrival to the NFL and have been a constant through his pro career, staying relatively healthy in consecutive seasons just once. Coming off another major injury at age 30, you have to wonder about durability behind a line that hasn’t been great. And ain’t no way Mike Glennon is keeping this kid off the field. I expect Rosen to open more eyes as the preseason plays out and I wouldn’t be shocked if he ended up with more snaps than Bradford at the end of the season. I’d take the over here.

Of the five quarterbacks selected in the first round of the draft — Baker Mayfield of the Browns, Sam Darnold of the Jets, Josh Allen of the Bills, Rosen and Lamar Jackson of the Ravens — La Canfora set his highest over/under mark for the Bills’ Josh Allen to start nine games this season.

Jackson received the lowest mark of all five quarterbacks at an over/under of just one game.

However, the likelihood of those quarterbacks starting for their respective teams to start the regular season is low.

Last season, only one rookie quarterback began the season as his team’s starter: DeShone Kizer. His team, the Browns, would suffer through a historical 0-16 season.
