TEMPE — Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love will return Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys after missing two games with an ankle injury, head coach Mike LaFleur said on Friday.
Love has been a limited participant in practice this week, but LaFleur said the running back is feeling “as good as he can feel.”
“We’re never gonna put a guy out there that we don’t think can obviously benefit the team, benefit in this case the offense,” LaFleur said. “So I’ll keep it at that, but I mean he’s out there for a reason and we expect him to go.”
The No. 3 overall pick has 245 rushing yards in five games played to start his rookie season.
Additionally, LaFleur said wide receiver Michael Wilson will play despite wearing a non-contact jersey in practice this week to protect sore ribs.
Walter Nolen III out vs. Cowboys
The Cardinals will not have the services of 2025 first-round pick and defensive lineman Walter Nolen III or starting right guard Jon Gaines II, as both are dealing with ankle issues.
Nolen made his first impression in Dallas last season with a sack in his NFL debut, but he will be sidelined for the second straight game.
Center Hjalte Froholdt, meanwhile, “tweaked something” in practice on Thursday, and the Cardinals will evaluate him going into the weekend. He showed up on Thursday’s injury report as a limited participant due to a knee issue.
With Gaines out and Froholdt’s status in question, Cardinals’ backup offensive lineman Hayden Conner would fill in, LaFleur said.
“Hayden would jump inside there then we’d go from there,” LaFleur said. “So you always end up having plans for all those situations whether we had all five healthy linemen or not. Things happen. I’ve seen 2013 versus the Chiefs, (tight end) Logan Paulsen had to go play tackle, like you just have to be ready for all those situations.”
