Suns ‘due for a win’ vs. Nuggets

Apr 20, 2012, 5:26 PM | Updated: 6:28 pm

The Suns next “biggest game of the season” comes Saturday
when the Denver Nuggets visit for a rare matinee game at
US Airways Center.

Denver has won five of the last six meetings, including
the first two this season.

“I think we’re due for a win,” said Steve Nash, who had 14
points and 11 assists in the teams’ most recent matchup,
a 105-99 loss at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

The Suns overcame a 10-point deficit and owned a 99-96
lead with 3:09 remaining, but did not score a single point
the rest of the way, surrendering a 9-0 game-ending run to
the Nuggets.

“We’ve been owing Denver one for this entire season,”
explained Sebastian Telfair. “The last one we let it get
away from us.”

The Nuggets are 4-2 over their last six games while the
Suns have won three of five.

“We’re going to have to play really well,” added Nash, now
four assists shy of passing Oscar Robertson for fifth
place on the all-time career list. “They’re a tough
matchup for us but we’ve got to come out and be confident
and expect to win at home.”

The Suns are 12-3 at home since the All-Star break.

Thursday night’s victory over the Clippers moved Phoenix
back into 8th place in the Western Conference, a game-and-
a-half back of 7th place-Denver.

“They’re coming to our home court,” said Telfair. “Our
fans know that we’re playing for the playoffs. It should
be a great atmosphere.”
