Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray will make his third rehab start Monday, according to the Associated Press.

He has been dealing with a right oblique strain since April.

Ray’s last rehab start came on Tuesday with Triple-A Reno. The southpaw gave up one run and allowed four baserunners in 4.1 innings of work.

He struck out nine of the 13 batters he retired.

After 66 pitches, he was taken out of the game.

“Been doing everything that we had hoped,” D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Burns & Gambo. “He had been saying that he was feeling good and I’ve learned to trust Robbie since the situation last year, being hit on the head. He told me exactly how he was feeling, exactly how he would go out and perform and he backed it up.”

This was an improvement over his first rehab start.

On June 14, Ray gave up two runs off five hits in 2.1 innings of work at Visalia. Both runs were solo homers. He threw 46 pitches.

Shelby Miller, who underwent Tommy John surgery and has been in Visalia with Ray this season, is scheduled to make his first major league start this season for the D-backs on Monday.
