Gordon still set on wanting to play in PHX

The Suns’ front office has been busy finishing up the
details of the Steve Nash sign-and-trade deal with the
Lakers and signing Goran Dragic and Michael Beasley to
contracts.

But what about the latest on the Eric Gordon front?

The restricted free agent guard from New Orleans
desperately wants to play in Phoenix after visiting team
officials. The four-year pro agreed
to a contract with the Suns earlier this week, but New
Orleans can match any offer and is expected to do so.

Tuesday, Gordon
released a statement
through his agent,
Rob Pelinka, in which he clearly said Phoenix was the
place for him.

Gordon’s younger brother, Evan, is a junior-to-be on Herb
Sendek’s Arizona State basketball squad.

According to Ric Bucher of
ESPN
, Gordon was still spouting
off Thursday about his future in New Orleans — the
franchise that
holds his fate in their hands.

“Phoenix just showed a lot more interest, overall, and
definitely in how they negotiated,” Gordon told Bucher. “I
don’t know what New Orleans’ plans are for me. There are
no negotiations right now.”

Gordon also isn’t pleased that the Hornets invested a high
draft pick to select shooting guard Austin Rivers out of
Duke 10th overall.

“They drafted another shooting guard, a combo guard like
me, which tells me they have another plan,” he said.

So, the saga continues. Gordon and Pelinka have five days
to convince the Hornets not to match the offer or this
whole merry-go-round was for naught.
