The Arizona Cardinals signed safety Tre Boston to a one-year deal on Friday before training camp began and waived defensive end Moubarak Djeri.

Arizona will pay Boston $1.5 million guaranteed with another $1.5 million in incentives, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Boston originally met with the Cardinals in late May, per 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro. Boston told SiruisXM NFL Radio in late June that the Cardinals “rolled out the red carpet for me but the offer was very, very disrespectful.”

“I Remember Playing Against The Goats!! Now Im Playing With Em!!” Boston posted Thursday on Instagram along with a photo of himself playing against Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

The 25-year-old Boston started 15 games for the San Diego Chargers in 2017, recording 56 tackles, five interceptions and eight passes defensed.

A fourth-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft by Carolina, Boston spent three years with the Panthers and was coached by first-year Arizona coach Steve Wilks before playing for the Chargers.

With the release of Tyrann Mathieu and loss of Tyvon Branch in free agency, the Cardinals have safeties Budda Baker, Antoine Bethea, Travell Dixon and Rudy Ford on the roster with NFL experience. Baker and Bethea had major reps last season while Dixon’s last appearance was in December of 2016. Ford, who played on special teams, had five tackles in 10 games last season.

Gambadoro reports the Cardinals are expected to play three safeties, with Boston playing a key role alongside Baker and Bethea.

Djeri, a native of Togo, grew up in Germany played in the German Football League last season. He was signed by Arizona in March.
