YouTube star brings nostalgia with Amar’e/Nash impersonation

Aug 19, 2018, 10:36 AM

Brandon Armstrong, known for his eerily accurate impersonation videos of NBA stars on YouTube, got creative with a long-form rendition of the Steve Nash-Amar’e Stoudemire duo.

Instead of a typical 30-second to minute-long video, Armstrong and his group took more than four-and-a-half minutes to celebrate the hair-fixing, high-flying pair.

They also cut sound from Suns broadcasts and played it over their clips.

The very first clip was one Phoenix fans grew accustomed to in the mid-2000s — “Nash” made a behind-the-back pass to “Stoudemire” for a dunk.

“Stoudemire with the finish!” the broadcaster exclaimed as the familiar noises of the Suns stadium’s PA system blared.

As he did so, the Nash impersonator started walking back up court, licking his fingers and fixing his hair. He turned around to face the Stoudemire impersonator, who was adjusting his protective goggles.

As accurate as the plays were, the most perfect part was that post-sequence jog up court. Without fail, they fixed their hair and goggles.

The duo also often “forgot” to defend while walking back up the court and fixing their appearances, a call to the Suns’ defensive struggles during the Seven Seconds or Less era.

They even got some soccer moves in.

Watch the full video to re-live the dribbling, passing and finger roll magic from Nash and the dunks and mid-range shots of STAT.
