Phoenix Suns rookie center Deandre Ayton looked more than serviceable in his first game as a pro, putting up a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, but there was one job he didn’t quite get to before postgame interviews.
While he was talking to the media, veteran forward Trevor Ariza — a newcomer on the Suns himself — interrupted.
“Ay, rook,” he yelled over the camera and voice recorders.
“Where the towels at, rook?”
He may be the No. 1 overall pick, but he’s still a rookie…@DeandreAyton had to interrupt his post-game interview to grab some towels for his teammates. pic.twitter.com/LiAMQB0X6x

There was some laughter as the talking stopped and Ayton looked over.
“Y’all just pause, everybody wait,” Ayton said, rising. “Let me do this right quick.”
He had six assists during the game, but he popped back into the locker room with some towels to dish out.
Some might just call those rookie duties, though.
Ayton sat back down at his locker next to Ariza’s and turned back to the cameras.
“What were we saying about our vets again?”
