Arizona Cardinals All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson has asked for a trade from the team, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The seven-time pro bowler reportedly wants to be dealt by the deadline on Oct. 30. Schefter added that the Cardinals have refused to consider a deal to this point.

Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks said on Monday that he “hadn’t heard anything” about the report.

“Patrick was here today,” Wilks said. “He hasn’t spoken to me about it at all and had a pretty good practice.”

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported last week that the Cardinals could end up dealing Peterson.

Schefter joined Denver’s Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan to discuss the report.

“The Cardinals have been adamant that they’re not trading him — and I’ll take them at their word — but wouldn’t it be interesting if teams start coming at them and I’m gonna guess that’s part of Patrick Peterson’s strategy to get out of here,” Schefter said to The Drive with Big Al and D-Mac.

The eight-year pro is making $11 million this season and will be a free agent in 2021.

Arizona is currently 1-6 after a 45-10 loss against the Denver Broncos which followed the firing of former offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

Through seven games, Peterson has two interceptions, 29 total tackles and a sack with the Cardinals.

Arizona drafted Peterson in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of LSU as the first cornerback taken.
