The Nike purple and black jerseys honor late musician Prince, who was a native of Minneapolis.
The unique edgy font on the jerseys resembles Prince’s symbol and Purple Rain album and film. The iconic musician passed away in 2016.

The City Edition uniforms pay homage to the culture of the NBA’s 30 teams.
The new jerseys for all teams are expected to be unveiled in November.
Last year, the Phoenix Suns wore City jerseys that read “Los Suns” on the front that paid homage to the Hispanic communities in the Valley.
