As far as opening acts go, rookie small forward T.J. Warren’s first in purple and orange couldn’t have gone much better than it did.
The Phoenix Suns’ No. 14 overall pick was sensational during his Las Vegas Summer League stint, averaging right around 18 points per contest on 54.4 percent shooting (37-of-68) from the field.
Warren scored at least 20 points in three of his five appearances — a notable feat considering he missed the entire second half of the Suns’ 93-82 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on July 13 due to injury (stitches above right eye).
For his efforts, the reigning ACC Player of the Year was named to the Samsung All-NBA Summer League Second Team along with Jordan Mcrae, Rudy Gobert, Russ Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr.
