To say the Phoenix Suns have had a high turnover rate over the last half decade would be an understatement.

Since the 2014-15 season, the Suns have gone through a plethora of coaching, personnel and front office changes, without anything, or anyone, really sticking for the longterm.

The only constants have been T.J. Warren and Devin Booker.

With that in mind, here is a look at the last five years of Phoenix Suns coaches by the numbers:

4-in-5

Igor Kokoskov becomes the fourth Suns head coach to be fired in the last five seasons, joining former head coaches Jay Tirano (2017-18), Earl Watson (2016-2017) and Jeff Hornacek (2013-16) on that list.

4-of-12

Prior to the 2018 NBA Draft, the team consisted of only four of its last 12 draft picks, seven of which were first-round selections.

Those four players are Warren, Booker, Dragon Bender and Josh Jackson.

30

Phoenix has not touched the 30-win mark since the 2014-15 season in which the team won 39 games.

The Suns have also not won more than 24 games in a single season since, resulting in the team’s 30.7 winning percentage over the last five years.

9 and 3

In those five years, Phoenix has had a total of 16 draft picks, nine of which were first rounders.

Amongst those nine first-round selections were five top-10 picks that included three in the top five.

Notable Suns draftees amongst those first-round selections include: T.J. Warren (No. 14 pick in 2014), Devin Booker (No. 13 pick in 2015), Dragan Bender (No. 4 pick in 2016), Marquese Chriss (No. 8 pick in 2016), Josh Jackson (No. 4 pick in 2017), Deandre Ayton (No. 1 pick in 2018) and Mikal Bridges (No. 10 pick in 2018).

104

Phoenix’s offense has been the only bright spot through these past five years.

The team has averaged 104 points scored a game in that time, giving the Suns an average of the 17th best offense.

The 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons saw the team finish 11th and 9th, respectively, in the NBA in points scored per game.

28

The Suns’ Achilles heel over the last five seasons has been their defense, as it has been one of the league’s worst.

In that time, Phoenix has allowed 111 points per game, putting the team at an average of 28th in the league in defense.

The Suns’ average points allowed per game has also risen every year, as the 2014-15 season’s mark of 103 points allowed per game has since ballooned to 117 points in 2018-19.

5

Williams heads to Phoenix on a five-year contract.

And unlike Kokoskov, Williams has been an NBA head coach before with New Orleans from 2010-15 and as an associate head coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015-16.

In his five years with the Hornets/Pelicans, Williams drafted Anthony Davis with the first pick of the 2012 NBA Draft and took his team to the playoffs twice in 2010-11 and 2014-15, the latter of which was a first-round loss to the eventual NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.

The following year, Williams and the Thunder took Golden State to Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals in what would be Kevin Durant’s final season in Oklahoma City.

Durant told Sports Illustrated in 2017 that Williams is “the best man that I know.”
