To run or not to run: Depends on the Phoenix Suns owner’s free thow shooting

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Before practice wrapped up on Thursday, Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek called managing partner Robert Sarver on to the court to attempt a free throw.

Players were then asked to pick sides: Would Sarver make it or miss it?

The losing side would have to run the length of the court twice, down and back.

Sarver’s shot, while on target, rimmed out.

“Well, it’s hard,” Hornacek said. “I thought somebody warned him. I thought he had a chance to go over there (on the other court) and warm-up a couple of times, but I don’t think so because he didn’t know what we were doing. He was cold, sitting there the whole practice. I’m not sure I would’ve made it.”

Marcus Morris, Miles Plumlee, Isaiah Thomas and PJ Tucker were among the half dozen or so players that chose poorly and had to run.

“I’m not going against the guy who writes the checks,” Plumlee said.
