The San Antonio Spurs came to town for Thursday night’s preseason matchup against the Phoenix Suns without their head coach, Gregg Popovich, and two of their All-Stars, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili.

In addition to those three men who did not travel to Arizona, Spurs starters Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter and key reserve Patty Mills did not play due to injury.

The shorthanded Spurs lost 121-90, but that did not make Suns managing partner Robert Sarver any happier about the key absences.

With 2:31 remaining in the game, Sarver grabbed the public address microphone and apologized to the announced 13,552 fans in attendance.

“Hey everybody I want to thank you for coming out tonight. This is not the game you paid your hard-earned money to watch. I apologize for it and I want you to send me your tickets if you came tonight with a return envelope and I’ve got a gift for you on behalf of the Suns for showing up tonight. Thank you.”
