The progression of second-year center Alex Len propelled him into the Phoenix Suns’ starting lineup in December and relegated last year’s starting center, Miles Plumlee, to a bench role.

Now, it appears the Suns may look to move Plumlee out of the rotation altogether.

ESPN NBA insider Marc Stein reported Sunday that the Suns may be listening to offers for the third-year pro out of Duke:

The Suns will ask for at least one future first-round pick in exchange for Plumlee, according to Stein.

Plumlee was a pleasant surprise last season for the Suns, who came to Phoenix with guard Gerald Green in a trade with the Indiana Pacers for forward Luis Scola.

After he saw little playing time in his rookie season in Indiana, Plumlee averaged 8.1 points and 7.9 rebounds in 80 games, including 79 starts, for Phoenix in 2013-14. He recorded 11 double-doubles and was instrumental in the Suns’ unexpected 48-win season.

But with the emergence of Len, Plumlee’s playing time has been reduced from 24.6 to 20 minutes per game this season. He’s averaging 4.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 42 games.
